Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Development Design, build, and maintain Power BI semantic models using industry-standard dimensional modeling techniques such as star and snowflake schemas, dataflows, and shared datasets. Develop scalable enterprise datasets with well-defined relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, and incremental refresh strategies. Partner with data engineering teams to establish data requirements, improve data quality, and ensure the models are scalable and maintainable. Establish and enforce data modeling standards that enable governed self-service analytics across the organization. 1. Advanced DAX Development Create sophisticated DAX measures, calculated columns, and tables to implement business rules, KPIs, and analytical insights. Optimize DAX calculations to enhance performance, maintain readability, and ensure maintainability across large-scale datasets. Diagnose and resolve calculation issues to maintain data consistency and accuracy across dashboards and reports. Configure and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) within semantic models. 1. Dashboard & Visualization Development Develop user-friendly and visually engaging Power BI dashboards that effectively present business insights. Apply best practices in data visualization and storytelling to support informed business decisions. Implement interactive capabilities such as drill-through navigation, bookmarks, parameter-driven reports, and custom visuals. Ensure dashboards comply with usability, accessibility, and design standards. 1. SQL Development (Oracle & SQL Server) Develop optimized SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support BI reporting and data integration processes. Perform data analysis, transformation, and validation using SQL in both Oracle and SQL Server databases. Work closely with database administrators and data engineers to enhance query performance and maintain data accuracy. 1. Power BI Administration & Governance Administer Power BI Service components including workspaces, datasets, on-premises gateways, refresh schedules, and capacity monitoring. Support governance practices such as dataset certification, naming standards, documentation, and version management. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot dataset refresh issues, and optimize gateway and dataset performance. Assist with tenant administration tasks including user access control, licensing management, and compliance with organizational policies. 1. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions. Provide training and support for self-service Power BI users across teams. Maintain documentation for data models, DAX calculations, SQL queries, and report specifications. Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to ongoing BI platform enhancements. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Power BI development. Strong expertise in the following areas: • Semantic modeling (star schema, composite models, dataflows) • Advanced DAX development • Power Query (M language) • Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service Solid SQL development skills with Oracle and SQL Server. Experience with Power BI administration, including gateways, workspace governance, RLS/OLS, and capacity monitoring. Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling concepts. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) semantic models (RPD), dashboards, and interactive reporting. Understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks. Experience handling large and complex datasets across multiple enterprise systems.
