Role description
Job number: ENG03638 Salary or Salary range: £46,614 - £56,345 per annum Posting End Date: 16 Sept 2025 About the role Imperial College London is the only UK university to focus entirely on science, engineering, medicine, and business, and our international reputation for excellence in teaching and research sees us consistently rank among the top 10 university worldwide. Based jointly in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dyson School of Design Engineering, the Power Platform and Data Systems Developer will lead on a range of impactful digital projects designed to streamline complex processes, enhance data integration, and improve the efficiency of our departmental operations. The post holder will be responsible for managing and supporting the use of Power Platform and Microsoft 365 applications. This includes identifying opportunities for process improvement, gathering and analysing requirements, building data flows and models, and supporting the effective use of digital tools across both departments. What you would be doing • You will work with academic and professional services teams to design user-friendly digital systems, automate processes, and support smarter decision-making through improved data access and reporting. • You will develop and support custom Power Platform solutions integrated with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and third-party systems to meet business needs. • You will analyse and visualise data using Power BI, monitor digital infrastructure usage, and ensure data quality to inform ongoing planning and investment. • You will create clear documentation—process diagrams, guides, and support materials—to help staff use digital tools effectively. • You will ensure accessibility and data protection compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA, GDPR, DPA, PECR), and communicate technical updates clearly to non-technical stakeholders. What we are looking for • You will hold a degree (or equivalent qualification), and ideally a Microsoft PL-400 Power Platform Developer certification. • You will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform — particularly in developing Power Apps, automating workflows with Power Automate, and using Dataverse for data management. • You will bring solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, and understand how to build integrated, user-friendly digital solutions. • You will be confident gathering user requirements, engaging with stakeholders, and presenting solutions or reports to senior audiences. • You will be comfortable using Power Fx, DAX, Power Query, and JSON to build logic, visualise data in Power BI, and create advanced automations. • You will have a collaborative, solution-focused mindset, with a strong service ethic and enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement. For full details about the duties and requirements of the role, please see the Job Description. What we can offer you • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 38 days off a year) Further information This position is fixed term and is expected to run for up to 2 years.
