Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer to support and modernize mission-critical enterprise applications. This individual will be responsible for developing, enhancing, troubleshooting, and maintaining legacy PowerBuilder applications while partnering with business and technical teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate has strong database experience, enjoys working in legacy environments, and is comfortable supporting modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications built with PowerBuilder.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in existing applications.
Refactor legacy code to improve maintainability, performance, and scalability.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
Work with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Sybase databases to support business applications.
Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Perform unit testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure high-quality software.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
Maintain technical documentation and follow established development standards.
Support application modernization efforts, including integration with newer technologies and APIs.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of professional PowerBuilder development experience.
Strong experience with PowerBuilder Foundation Classes (PFC).
Proficiency with PowerScript development.
Strong SQL development skills and experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Sybase.
Experience developing and consuming REST and SOAP web services.
Experience debugging, maintaining, and enhancing legacy enterprise applications.
Familiarity with source control tools such as Git or Azure DevOps.
Experience working within Agile development environments.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with C#, .NET, or .NET Core.
Exposure to application modernization and migration projects.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Experience integrating PowerBuilder applications with modern APIs and enterprise systems.
Knowledge of JavaScript, Angular, or other modern UI technologies is a plus.
