We’re looking for a Principal Analyst with strong technical and consultancy experience to help drive innovation and value across the UK property and financial services sectors. You'll lead a talented team of analysts, shape analytical strategy, and work closely with clients, product, and commercial teams to bring data to life. The role will require you to have previous experience working in financial services. We are looking for an experienced Senior Analytics Leader to take ownership of Property Risk Analytics across a suite of data-driven products supporting the mortgage lending ecosystem. This role is ideal for a Principal Analyst, Senior Consultant, or Head of Analytics with strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and experience working within mortgage lending, property analytics, or financial services data environments. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on ensuring analytical quality, product performance, and measurable commercial impact. You will lead complex analytical work using mortgage application and property datasets, evolve risk metrics through rigorous testing, and deliver high-value insight to clients and internal teams. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, analytics, and customer stakeholders to ensure property risk solutions are robust, explainable, and aligned with real-world lender decision-making. Key Responsibilities Property Risk Product Analytics • Lead the improvement, monitoring, and ongoing performance evaluation of property risk data products and metrics. • Design and deliver back-testing and performance analysis using mortgage application, valuation, and survey datasets. • Identify data quality issues, coverage gaps, and model limitations, partnering with engineering and analytics teams to resolve them. • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations that inform product evolution. Client & Commercial Analytics • Deliver bespoke analytical insight to support lender decision-making and product adoption. • Provide evidence-based analytics demonstrating value, risk reduction, and operational efficiency. • Act as a senior analytical contact for key clients, supporting interpretation and implementation of property risk outputs. • Contribute analytical insight to go-to-market activity and commercial discussions. • Feed real-world client challenges and lender requirements into product and analytics roadmaps. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with engineering teams to translate analytical requirements into scalable, production-ready data products. • Collaborate with data science teams to enhance risk product capabilities. • Partner with analysts to deliver product insight, client reporting, and deep-dive investigations. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence • Engage confidently with stakeholders ranging from technical teams to senior commercial and client leadership. • Communicate complex analytical concepts and risk metrics in a clear, pragmatic way. • Champion high analytical standards, explainability, and data-driven decision-making. Skills & Experience Essential • Strong analytics background within mortgage lending, property, consultancy, or a data/software provider serving lenders. • Proven experience analysing large datasets, including performance analysis and back-testing of risk metrics. • Strong technical capability (SQL, Python, Spark, or similar). • Experience working alongside engineering teams to develop and maintain data products. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable • Understanding of mortgage lending processes, property valuation, survey data, or secured credit risk. • Experience working with mortgage application or valuation datasets. • Experience with cloud analytics environments (AWS or Azure). • Familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms. • Experience supporting analytics-led product development or go-to-market initiatives. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar). • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience is advantageous. • Strong applied statistical knowledge with experience solving real-world analytical problems.
