Role description
Job Description - Principal Data Scientist We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the development of a comprehensive Data Science Program focused on advancing data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, and AI solutions. This role will champion the use of modern analytics platforms such as Databricks and guide the organization in adopting advanced analytics practices. The Principal Data Scientist will mentor junior team members, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality analytical insights that support business goals. Strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. Key Responsibilities Establish and lead data science initiatives and program development. Develop ML models, predictive analytics solutions, and end-to-end workflows. Mentor and train junior data scientists and analysts. Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Management teams on data pipelines and architecture. Translate complex technical results into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency across all deliverables. Support MLOps practices, including versioning, automation, and model monitoring. Required Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid understanding of regression, clustering, association analysis, and statistical methods. Knowledge of database structures and experience working with engineering teams. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. High attention to detail and accuracy. Proven experience mentoring junior team members. Preferred Experience 5+ years leading data science initiatives and production ML model development. 3+ years with Databricks or similar cloud analytics platforms. 3+ years using advanced analytics (regression, classification, clustering, NLP, forecasting). 2+ years implementing MLOps (MLflow, CI/CD, automated pipelines). 2+ years building or optimizing data pipelines with engineering teams. 2+ years programming in Python and SQL (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.). 1+ year working within enterprise data governance and compliance frameworks. Education & Certifications Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field. At least one required certification: Azure Data Scientist Associate (DP-100) Databricks Data Scientist / ML Professional AWS Machine Learning Specialty Google Professional Data Engineer Or equivalent advanced analytics certification (Certification is mandatory and cannot be substituted.) Additional Information California resident candidates only. Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite, 2 days telework. Work schedule: 4/40 (10-hour days, Monday–Thursday). Shift assigned by Program Manager (between 7:15 AM – 6:00 PM). Interviews conducted via Microsoft Teams. Job Type: Contract Pay: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour Work Location: In person
