Principal Database Engineer

This position requires an Active Top Secret. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire. Solidus is searching for a Principal Database Engineer. This position is located in Richardson, TX and candidates must be able to work on-site You will have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. In this position you would be familiar with creating, updating, and managing Postgres databases and the code that interacts with them. Day In The Life • Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions. • Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well. • Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions. • Use proven problem solving and analytical skills. • The ability to obtain and maintain SCI program access and complete polygraphs. • Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start. Clearance Requirements • US Citizenship and an Active Top Secret • Willingness to undergo comprehensive background investigation Key Qualifications & Skills • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience. • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle, Postgres, or related systems. • Database design experience (tables, schema, views, etc.) for efficiency. • Data architecture experience for data design decisions (such as best DB for a use case) • Experience with AWS services. Preferred Skills • Security+ Certification • Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues. • Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements. • Experience with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB. • Experience with automating routine tasks. • Setup and administering a Postgres or MongoDB database. • Preferably experience with Postgres in AWS RDS • Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases • Preferably Spatial database experience The salary for this position is estimated to be between $135,000- $190,000. Customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies and certifications, clearance status, and benefit selections will influence the final salary.
