Principal Snowflake Engineer
Location: Remote
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Snowflake Engineer to lead enterprise data modernization initiatives focused on migrating legacy ETL and data warehouse platforms to Snowflake. This role requires deep technical expertise in Snowflake architecture, performance optimization, and large-scale data migrations, along with the ability to partner effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise-scale Snowflake solutions.
Drive migration of Informatica PowerCenter/IICS workflows and legacy ETL processes to Snowflake.
Design and optimize data models, ELT pipelines, and large-scale data integration solutions.
Establish best practices for Snowflake performance, scalability, security, governance, and cost optimization.
Analyze and optimize complex SQL workloads and query performance.
Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to define data strategy and technical solutions.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture.
5+ years of hands-on Snowflake engineering and architecture experience.
Strong experience with Informatica PowerCenter and/or IICS.
Deep expertise in Snowflake internals, including:
Query optimization
Virtual warehouse sizing and tuning
Micro-partitioning and clustering
Resource management
Performance troubleshooting
Cost optimization
Advanced SQL development and performance tuning skills.
Proven experience leading enterprise data warehouse modernization and migration programs.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
