Role description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an initiative-taking and data-driven Product & Data Owner to lead the development and continuous improvement of our Centralized Crossing Data Initiative. This role is critical in enhancing rail crossing safety, optimizing system integrations, and creating a single source of truth to meet regulatory compliance through innovative technology and data analytics. The ideal candidate will have experience in rail transportation systems, data management design, particularly rail infrastructure, and possess strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proactive and results-driven professional with a strong sense of ownership and persistence in achieving.
• Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Centralized Crossing Data Initiative, aligning with safety, operational, and regulatory goals.
• Collaborate with rail operators, GIS analysts, and engineering teams to gather and prioritize requirements.
• Translate stakeholder needs into clear user stories, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze rail crossing data from multiple legacy systems ranging from GIS to incident management, and our dispatching system. Identify inconsistencies and gaps to improve data quality creating a single source of truth for centralized crossings.
• Work closely with development teams to deliver features that improve crossing safety data.
• Ensure integration with GIS platforms, real-time data feeds, and external systems (e.g., FRA databases, ticket systems, and dispatch systems).
• Define & Monitor product performance using KPIs.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and product demos.
Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst.
• Experience in designing analytics solutions in a hybrid environment. Should be proficient in using data analysis tools (e.g., Oracle, SQL Developer, Python) and visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Databricks on AWS).
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Oracle Database.
• Experience with GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS) and spatial data analysis.
• Experience with rail safety data sources (e.g., FRA Crossing Inventory).
• Familiarity with railroad grade crossing systems, real-time data integration.
• Certification in Product Ownership (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA).
