Role description
Title: Project Controls Analyst
Location: Atlanta, GA (On‐site, 5 days per week)
Employment Type: Contract/ Contract - to - hire
Compensation: $35-$45/hour
As a Project Controls Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting project management teams in the development, execution, and oversight of project controls processes to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational standards. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor project performance, manage costs, and provide accurate reporting to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Conduct detailed analysis of project controls to ensure alignment with objectives, schedules, and deliverables.
• Monitor and track project costs, ensuring financial control, variance analysis, and adherence to budgets.
• Manage and report on accruals, forecasts, and other financial data to support decision-making.
• Develop and maintain project forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to project leadership.
• Perform data integrity and accuracy checks to ensure reliable reporting.
• Support vendor and contract cost management, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
• Assist with project cost estimation and budgeting processes.
• Contribute to the development and management of project schedules, tracking milestones and deliverables.
• Partner with project managers and finance teams to align budgets and communicate updates.
• Prepare reports and dashboards for management, highlighting variances, risks, and key performance metrics.
• Support project reviews, stage-gate processes, and business case evaluations by providing financial and scheduling analysis.
• Recommend and assist with process improvements in project management, scheduling, and cost control practices.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of experience in project controls, financial cost control, or project reporting.
• Experience with project financial management for projects $1M+ preferred.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proven experience in project analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; experience with ERP systems and/or project management software preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team environment.
• Experience in developing and implementing process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with large-scale capital projects or complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Project scheduling expertise.
• Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Professional certifications such as PMP or equivalent.
