Proof of Concept Developer (Databricks)
Location: UK-based (preference for candidates near Tunbridge Wells)
Duration: 3–6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Day Rate: Up to £500/day (inclusive)

About the Role
We’re looking for a Proof of Concept Developer to help turn innovative data ideas into tangible, high-impact solutions. You’ll play a key role in rapidly prototyping data products using modern technologies, helping the business validate concepts and unlock value quickly.
You’ll be embedded within a cross-functional data squad, working alongside Data Engineers, Data Modellers, and Business Analysts to design and deliver scalable, production-ready concepts.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop Proof of Concept data products using Databricks and related technologies
• Translate business requirements into technical prototypes in collaboration with stakeholders
• Build, test, and iterate data pipelines, notebooks, and models within Databricks
• Present findings, prototypes, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audience
• Document processes, decisions, and outcomes for knowledge sharing
• Ensure all development follows best practices, governance, and security standards
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and bring new ideas into the team
Key Skills & Experience
Technical:
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and cloud platforms (ideally Azure)
• Proven experience developing data products, pipelines, and prototypes in enterprise environments
• Expertise in data preparation, transformation, and integration from multiple sources
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
• Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools
Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to clearly present complex technical concepts
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
• Comfortable working both independently and within agile teams
Nice to Have
• Experience in financial services, insurance, or healthcare sectors
