Role description
Immediate opening for an experienced Public Health Data Analyst SME to work remote with the possibility of working onsite in Atlanta, GA at some point in the future. In this role you will provide public health programmatic, epidemiological, and scientific data analytical support to a federal public health clientβs Data Office.
Contract to hire position Conversion Salary: $80,000/year
Candidates must be local to Atlanta, GA
The Data Analytics Team provides high-level public health expertise on all phases of statistical models and interpretation of analysis and studies on large data sets of surveillance and purchased clinical data for performing data analysis. Your role is as a public health data analyst/ scientist is to work closely with your client to analyze and prepare complex studies that require a sophisticated methodology or advanced computer skills. You will examine reports and articles prepared by others as part of the peer-review process. You will provide technical consultation with program staff to develop study questions and designs, conduct analyses, and interpret findings based on pharmacy, hospital, and healthcare claims data. You will also co-author papers for publications in peer-review journals and reports, and present to the scientific community at professional meetings and conferences.
Responsibilities:
β’ Maintain requisite knowledge for managing and analyzing large data sets using Python, SQL, or R (Python required). Provide ongoing knowledge transfer to client staff for SME supported new analytics tools and/or analytic software languages.
β’ Support federal clientβs clearance process for scientific products being published as needed. MPH with expertise in epidemiology, data analytics or related public health field preferred.
β’ Conduct exploratory or study-specific analyses and interpret findings from previously collected data based on pharmacy, hospital, viruses/diseases, and healthcare claims.
β’ Analyze and prepare complex studies that require a sophisticated methodology or advanced computer skills. Prepare and maintain data analytical plans throughout the study lifecycle collaborating with researchers and clients to maintain change control
β’ Examine reports and articles prepared by others and provide feedback as part of the peer-review processes
β’ Provide technical consultation with program staff to develop study questions and designs, conduct analyses, and interpret findings based on pharmacy, hospital, and healthcare claims data.
β’ Co-author papers for publications in peer-review journals and reports, and present to the scientific community at professional meetings and conferences.
β’ Verify results and validate with other known information sources.
β’ Develop data analysis findings and materials and summarize and visualize results (for example, develop graphs for dashboards showing data metrics) using tools such as PowerBI or Palantir.
β’ Utilize machine learning techniques for analysis incorporating techniques such as Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART) models and using machine learning based causal inference models.
Qualifications:
β’ Master of Public Health with focus on Epidemiology and Data Analytics and 2+ years of supporting federal government in support roles required.
β’ Experience with data wrangling tools and conducting data analysis on big data sets, data lakes in the cloud.
β’ Experience developing in Python (required), R, or SQL programs.
β’ Experience with Microsoft Azure required.
β’ Experience with Databricks (preferred).
β’ Experience with Big Data analysis programming techniques and technologies in a public health environment.
β’ Experience with machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis, data structures (required).
β’ Experience with Public Health data analysis.
β’ Possession of excellent analytical, data gathering, and problem-solving skills.
β’ Knowledge with use of data visualization and dashboarding tools such as PowerBI (preferred).
β’ Experience supporting multiple concurrent on-going activities.
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
