Job Title: Python Cloud Engineer
Location: Montreal, Canada (HYBRID)
Duration: 12+ months Contract
Position Description:
β’ The ideal candidate will develop quality software working with public cloud service provider (CSP) infrastructure across different Public Cloud areas and is proficient with various Object-Oriented development tools and techniques.
β’ The individual should be experienced with Python and Golang or Terraform development as well as NoSQL databases, ideally in a public cloud environment.
β’ Knowledge of Javascript/Typescript is an additional benefit
β’ Good problem-solving skills and taking ownership of items independently while tracking to closure are also an absolute must.
β’ The candidate will liaise with global teams to understand requirements, develop high quality code, and deliver projects.
β’ The position requires attention to detail, coupled with ownership, to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications.
Primary responsibilities:
β’ Hands-on development and design of Python and Golang applications
β’ Enhance and integrate the CSP automation framework with in-house tooling (Azure initially)
β’ Develop tooling & self-service capabilities for Public Cloud (Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS) and internal users
β’ Integrate automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines
β’ Improve MS developer experience by collaborating with client & infrastructure team
β’ Interface with a global team of application developers and infrastructure engineers
β’ Produce proof of concepts in new areas of development
β’ Investigate production issues
β’ Provide technical support for debugging application failures in production systems
β’ Participate in all aspects of SDLC (analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment)
Required Skills:
β’ 6-8+ years of hands on professional experience using Python, Golang, Java or JavaScript/TypeScript
β’ 2+ years of experience with globally dispersed teams that fall across different time zones
β’ Solid understanding of object-oriented design and development
β’ Proficient with database technologies (preferably NoSQL) including modelling, testing and performance tuning
β’ Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
β’ Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Gherkin, GoDog, behave, etc.)
β’ Competency with version control systems (git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins)
β’ Good understanding of Agile & DevOps methodologies and tools (e.g. Jira, Rally)
β’ Ability to write reusable, optimized and maintainable code that is well documented and follows industry standard best practices
β’ Excellent communication and presentation skills in a clear and concise manner across different stakeholder groups and knowledge levels
Desired Skills:
β’ Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
β’ Experience with OPA
β’ Experience designing Azure applications
