Role description
Title: Python Data Engineer Duration: 06 months (possible extension) Location: Houston TX (Hybrid) Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Python Data Engineer with 4–7 years of hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining data-driven applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, microservices, and database management, along with solid understanding of ETL, data warehousing, and test-driven development. This position requires working onsite in Houston for at least 3 days per week, and all shortlisted candidates must be available for an in-person interview. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and microservices using Python and FastAPI. • Build and optimize APIs and services within a microservices architecture. • Manage containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes, including performance monitoring and tuning. • Implement automated testing frameworks and follow test-driven development (TDD) best practices. • Utilize Git, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, VS Code, and Copilot for version control and continuous integration. • Work with both on-premise SQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2) and NoSQL databases. • Develop and maintain ETL processes and support data warehousing initiatives. • Understand and articulate the business functionality behind developed applications. • Collaborate effectively across teams and manage multiple concurrent projects. Required Skills and Qualifications: • 3–5 years of strong hands-on experience in Python development. • Proven expertise in FastAPI and microservices-based applications. • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and relevant monitoring tools. • Proficiency in test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing. • Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases. • Working knowledge of ETL, data warehousing, and data integration. • Familiarity with Git, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, VS Code, and Copilot. • Excellent analytical and communication skills. • Cloud computing experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) is optional — preference for candidates with on-premises system experience. Work Arrangement: • This role requires being onsite in Houston for at least 3 days a week. • In-person interviews are mandatory for shortlisted candidates.
