Job Title: Python Data Engineer Location : London UK Hybrid Role Type: InsideIR35 Contract Description: Role Overview We are seeking a highly hands-on Senior Python Data Engineer with strong pure Python development expertise to join a fast-paced front-office/trading data environment. This role requires deep practical coding ability, strong SQL capability, and proven experience building scalable Python-based ETL/data processing solutions without over-reliance on Spark or Databricks abstractions. The ideal candidate is a genuine senior engineer who can independently solve complex data engineering problems, perform effectively in live coding environments, and demonstrate strong real-world experience with Python data libraries and production-grade workflows. Core Python Expertise • 8+ years of hands-on software/data engineering experience • Strong command of core Python fundamentals • Ability to independently solve practical coding problems without dependency on online references • Proven experience building production-grade Python applications and ETL pipelines • Strong understanding of Python performance optimisation and clean coding practices Python Data Libraries Strong practical experience with: • Pandas • Polars • Selenium • NumPy (preferred) Preferred Background Strong preference for candidates with experience in: • Front-office trading environments • Energy trading • Low-latency or high-pressure data platforms • Real-time or near real-time data processing systems
