Job Summary:
BNY is seeking a Python Developer to join our dynamic technology team. This role is critical in building and optimizing data pipelines, maintaining enterprise-level data systems, and supporting strategic technology initiatives across the organization.
Ideal candidates will bring strong experience in Python, SQL, and ETL development, along with a background in working with relational databases and enterprise-level platforms. You’ll be expected to collaborate with stakeholders, contribute to system enhancements, and play a hands-on role in deploying scalable, data-driven solutions that support critical business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define sprint-based technical requirements
• Serve as a subject matter expert for data flowing in and out of enterprise databases
• Design and develop robust ETL processes to support large-scale data operations
• Implement system enhancements and process improvements with a focus on scalability
• Resolve complex technical issues while evaluating business process impact
• Ensure code quality and maintainability through testing, debugging, and best practices
• Follow BNY’s standard development and change management methodologies
• Apply sound ethical judgment and risk management principles across all work
Required Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a software development or data engineering role
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and data processing
• Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
• Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
• Proven experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines
• Familiarity with Agile environments and tools such as Jira and GitLab
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities
• Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively within technical teams
• Experience working in large enterprise or highly regulated environments
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Experience with IBM Apptio Targetprocess (TPro)
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, especially Power BI
• Experience working in distributed global teams
• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design (DDD) concepts is a plus
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
