Overview
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join the IT Derivatives/Fixed Income team of a leading Investment Banking client. The selected candidate will focus on designing, building, and supporting Front Office trading applications for Fixed Income products.
The role involves developing solutions in Python and integrating with vendor platforms such as PyXLL, QuestDB, ArconTech, and Databricks. The ideal candidate will also provide production support for existing applications, ensuring smooth daily operations for the Front Office Trading Desk.
Collaboration with quantitative analysts and traders is critical — this position requires strong communication skills, deep technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
Key Notes
1. Interview Process: 2–3 rounds, including an in-person final interview at either NYC or Iselin, NJ (mandatory).
1. Work Mode: Hybrid – must be able to work 2–3 days onsite per week.
1. Domain Experience: Candidates must have experience with Front Office trading desk applications for Fixed Income products.
1. Technical Preference: Experience transforming or integrating .NET/C# applications into Python is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and configure Python applications based on business and application requirements.
• Collaborate closely with trading and quantitative teams to understand workflows and implement solutions aligned with business needs.
• Provide effort and risk estimates, and maintain communication with project managers throughout development cycles.
• Develop robust coding architectures using best practices, modular design, and proper documentation.
• Maintain and enhance code quality through static/dynamic analysis, vulnerability scanning, automated testing, and CI/CD integration.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle — from analysis and design to deployment and post-production support.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing Front Office applications to support trading operations.
Required Skills
• Strong Python development experience (design, build, deployment, and support).
• Experience with Python environment setup on Windows and Linux systems.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with .NET / C# applications.
• Proficiency with REST API development (including enterprise authentication).
• Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and/or Sybase.
• Prior experience supporting trading desks in an investment banking environment.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
