Lead Python Developer – Energy Trading • • This role does not provide sponsorship • • • • NO bench recruiters please • • We’re partnering with a leading Energy Trading firm to hire a Lead Python Developer to help build and scale distributed trading applications. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide junior engineers, own key technical decisions, and work closely with traders, quants, and commercial stakeholders. What you’ll be doing: Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers within the team Own end-to-end delivery of features and workstreams Design and improve large-scale, distributed applications used in live trading environments Collaborate directly with trading & quant teams to translate business needs into technical solutions Contribute to architecture, code review, testing strategy, and release planning Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes / enhancements quickly and effectively Key Skills & Experience: Strong Python (OOP) and API development experience Deep understanding of distributed asynchronous systems and how to design them to avoid data conflicts Solid experience with SQL/Oracle or equivalent database technologies Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka Streams, or AWS SQS Strong coding, debugging, testing, and automation practices Experience working in CI/CD / DevOps environments Experience mentoring and coaching junior developers Experience in financial markets is a plus (commodities, gas, power, FX, or ETFs) What makes this role exciting: Work directly with front-office stakeholders Real impact on trading performance & system reliability Highly collaborative, fast-moving engineering environment
