About the Role:
Our client, a leading investment and insurance-focused financial services firm, is seeking a Principal Front Office Engineer to join their Risk team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will design, build, and deliver applications that enhance risk analytics, reporting, and AI-driven workflows.
You will work closely with Risk Directors, analysts, and investment teams, focusing on building scalable systems that power risk infrastructure and decision-ready insights. This role is ideal for a senior/lead engineer who wants to remain highly technical while driving architecture and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop small-scale applications, POCs, and AI-enabled tools for risk analytics
• Build scalable systems to support risk infrastructure, reporting, and data workflows
• Collaborate with risk analysts and investment teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Develop and optimize Python-based data processing systems for large financial datasets
• Implement data visualization and front-end solutions using tools like Plotly or Dash
• Rapidly iterate, prototype, and deliver production-ready solutions
• Maintain and enhance SQL-based data pipelines and reporting systems
Required Skills:
• 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Python
• Strong expertise in SQL and data manipulation
• Experience with Python libraries: pandas, NumPy
• Experience with Agentic Programming tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude)
• Full-stack development experience (backend + frontend/UX)
• Experience with Git/version control
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with data visualization tools (Plotly, Dash)
• Familiarity with financial data platforms (Bloomberg, FactSet, Aladdin, eFront, Moody’s)
• Experience with statistical/time-series analysis (SciPy, Scikit-learn, cvxpy)
• Understanding of financial markets and investment risk domain
• Experience building AI/ML-driven tools and workflows
Ideal Candidate:
• Hands-on software architect and builder
• Strong ownership mindset; proactive and self-driven
• Thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments
• Able to design, iterate, and deliver solutions end-to-end
• Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders
