Position: Python Developer
Location: Reston, Virginia Hybrid
Duration: 2 year
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Developer III to join our team in Reston, Virginia. This hybrid role requires three days onsite and two days offsite. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, particularly in Python, SQL, Spark, and AWS technologies. The role involves working on complex development projects, mentoring junior staff, and leading initiatives with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with product owners and development team members to define new features and user stories for large/complex projects.
• Create or update documentation, including detailed specifications, implementation guides, architecture diagrams, and design documents.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to user stories, resource libraries, and architecture patterns.
• Respond to production support calls to quickly resolve issues and maintain application uptime.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
• Lead projects and initiatives from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Utilize DevOps tools to build, inspect, deploy, test, and promote new or updated features.
• Serve as a technical lead, architect, or principal developer for large or complex projects.
• Demonstrate expert proficiency in unit testing and coding in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Java).
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software development.
• 3+ years of experience with Python, SQL, Spark, and Amazon EMR.
• 3+ years of experience building and deploying applications in AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, Hive, Glue, Redshift, RDS, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, Kinesis).
• Experience processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
• Skilled in AWS Compute (e.g., EC2, Lambda, Beanstalk, ECS, EMR).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with AWS Database products (e.g., RDS, Redshift, Aurora).
• Knowledge of AWS Management and Governance tools (e.g., CloudTrail, CloudWatch).
• Experience with statistics-based programming languages like R for data visualization.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
