Direct End Client: State of North Carolina Job Title: Python Developer Duration: 12 Months Start Date: ASAP Location: Raleigh, NC Position Type: Contract Interview Type: Phone & In-person or Skype Requirement ID: SNC_PYTH159_SS DHHS Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a skilled Application Systems Python Developer to design, develop, and support data pipelines, dashboards, integrations, and migration processes across enterprise systems within the Office of the NC Chief Medical Examiner. This role plays a key part in moving data between legacy and modern platforms, ensuring data quality, and enabling analytics and automation through Python and Power BI. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain data migration scripts, ETL pipelines, and automation workflows using Python • Design, build, and optimize data models for reporting and analytics • Create interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI • Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading between databases, APIs, and enterprise systems • Optimize data processes for speed, reliability, and scalability • Work with SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support migration and reporting • Integrate data from multiple sources, including cloud apps, on-premises systems, and flat files • Collaborate with business teams to define reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions • Analyze data quality issues, reconcile datasets, and implement best practices for data integrity • Implement automation for recurring data tasks and reporting workflows • Maintain documentation for data processes, source mappings, and migration steps • Participate in architecture, design, and planning sessions for data modernization projects Required/Desired Skills: • Strong hands-on experience with Python. Required: 7 Years of Experience • Proficiency with Power BI Required: 5 Years of Experience • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres). Required: 7 Years of Experience. • Senior-level experience writing optimized SQL queries and analyzing existing SQL queries to improve performance. Required: 7 Years of Experience. • Solid understanding of SOAP/REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices. Required: 5 Years of Experience. • Experience designing and executing data migration or data conversion projects. Required: 7 Years of Experience • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements. Required: 7 Years of Experience • Familiarity with legacy system migration projects. Highly Desired: 5 Years of Experience • Experience with large-scale migration or modernization initiatives. Highly Desired: 5 Years of Experience • Experience with Java development. Highly Desired: 5 Years of Experience • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Desired: 3 Years of Experience • Knowledge of Power BI administration, workspaces, gateways, and deployment strategies.
