Senior QC Data & Digital Solutions Engineer
Overview
The Senior QC Data & Digital Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing advanced data and digital solutions that modernize Quality Control (QC) laboratory operations. Operating within the QC Systems group and reporting to the Manager of Digital Laboratory Systems, this role partners closely with QC subject matter experts to streamline workflows, enhance data accessibility, and drive operational efficiency through scalable digital tools.
This is a highly hands-on, solution-oriented role requiring deep expertise in data engineering and digital tool development within a regulated laboratory environment. The position is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite near Holly Springs, NC.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead the end-to-end development of data and digital solutions for QC laboratories, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support
β’ Partner directly with QC stakeholders across Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioassay, and QC Support to understand workflows, data structures, and operational challenges
β’ Analyze existing processes to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved data flow
β’ Design and develop scalable, enterprise-grade solutions using Databricks, SQL, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, and SharePoint
β’ Translate complex laboratory processes and QC data into intuitive dashboards, applications, and reporting tools
β’ Integrate and leverage QC data sources including LIMS, electronic lab notebooks, and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
β’ Ensure all solutions meet data integrity, compliance, and quality system requirements
β’ Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
β’ Drive continuous improvement and digital innovation within QC Systems by introducing new tools, frameworks, and approaches
β’ Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and enhancements for deployed solutions
β’ Operate independently while maintaining strong alignment with QC Systems strategy and broader QC objectives
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Advanced expertise in SQL and Databricks, including building and managing scalable data pipelines and enterprise data solutions
β’ Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) delivering end-to-end digital solutions
β’ Advanced proficiency in Power BI for dashboarding, reporting, and data modeling
β’ Experience leveraging SharePoint for collaboration, data management, and workflow solutions
β’ Working knowledge of QC laboratory operations, workflows, and data structures
β’ Experience translating complex scientific processes into practical, user-friendly digital tools
β’ Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify and implement process improvements
β’ Ability to operate with autonomy while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams
β’ Excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience working with LIMS, electronic laboratory notebooks, and QMS platforms
β’ Background supporting QC or regulated laboratory environments
β’ Experience building solutions in GxP or highly regulated settings
β’ Proven track record of delivering digital transformation or data-driven solutions in laboratory or manufacturing environments
Education & Experience
β’ Doctorate + 2 years, OR
β’ Masterβs + 6 years, OR
β’ Bachelorβs + 8 years, OR
β’ Associate + 10 years, OR
β’ High school diploma/GED + 12 years of relevant experience
Work Environment
