Role: Quality Data Business Analyst
Rate: $57/hour W2
Location: Hybrid in Oak Park Heights, MN

Overview
We are seeking a Quality Data Business Analyst to support data modernization, reporting, data quality, and business process improvement efforts. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, quality leaders, data teams, developers, and technology partners to help modernize legacy reporting assets, improve KPI visibility, and ensure enterprise data is accurate, trusted, and usable.
This is a data-focused Business Analyst role that requires strong requirements gathering, reporting/data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and testing experience. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across business and technical teams and can help translate business needs into clear data, reporting, and dashboard requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather, document, and validate business and functional requirements for data and reporting initiatives.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand quality KPIs, reporting needs, data definitions, and success criteria.
• Analyze current-state data sources, legacy reporting structures, schemas, and data flows.
• Help translate legacy data/reporting needs into a modern data environment.
• Support dashboard and reporting design, including presentation-layer mockups and Power BI reporting requirements.
• Work with data teams, developers, BI/reporting teams, QA, and project stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Define and document data quality rules, validation criteria, business rules, mappings, and acceptance criteria.
• Support data profiling, data validation, gap analysis, and root cause analysis across multiple systems and datasets.
• Validate data transformations, mappings, reports, and dashboards during development and implementation.
• Support testing activities, including test case development, UAT support, and results validation.
• Communicate findings, risks, open questions, and recommendations to stakeholders at varying levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of Business Analyst experience, with a strong focus on data, reporting, BI, or data quality initiatives.
• Strong experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and reporting requirements.
• Experience working with data sources, schemas, data marts, data warehouses, or enterprise reporting environments.
• Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, data validation, and data lifecycle concepts.
• Experience with data profiling, data mapping, data validation, gap analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency with SQL for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting dashboard/report development and testing.
• Strong Power BI experience; this is a key requirement for the role.
• Ability to work closely with both business stakeholders and technical data teams.
• Strong communication, facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in manufacturing, quality, healthcare, financial services, or another data-intensive/regulated environment.
• Experience with manufacturing quality metrics, operational KPIs, or business performance reporting.
• Familiarity with legacy reporting tools such as BusinessObjects.
• Experience with modern data platforms or tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Azure, Databricks, or similar.
• Experience with data governance frameworks or concepts such as stewardship, ownership, metadata, data standards, and controls.
• Familiarity with data governance or metadata platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Purview, or similar.
• Experience with Tableau in addition to Power BI.
