Power BI Developer
Location: San Diego, CA (3 days on-site)
Employment Type: Contract-to-hire
Compensation: $45-50/hr
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a leading organization to identify a skilled Power BI Developer who will play a key role in delivering high‑quality data solutions. This position focuses on developing and enhancing Power BI reports, performing complex data modeling, and supporting business stakeholders through accurate and meaningful data insights.
Position Overview
In this role, the Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI visuals, dashboards, and data models. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in DAX, Power Query, SQL, and SSIS, and will be able to consolidate and transform data from multiple sources, including Excel, databases, APIs, and text files. The position also involves creating and maintaining technical documentation for processes, workflows, and test/use cases.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, enhance, and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports, and other data artifacts across multiple environments within defined timelines.
• Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and cross‑functional partners across regions and time zones to gather and document business requirements.
• Perform complex data modeling, data transformation, and validations to support accurate analytics and reporting.
• Build and maintain ETL processes using SSIS when needed for data integration and reporting.
• Document technical assets including workflows, data models, and functional processes.
• Manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities, and project timelines in a dynamic environment.
• Communicate effectively—both written and verbally—with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This role does not include direct supervision of staff.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field—or equivalent experience.
Experience
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Power BI, including visuals/charts, DAX, Power Query, SQL, SSIS, and data modeling.
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis, data validation, and quality assurance.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus:
• C#, TypeScript, R, Python, .NET, Web API
• AngularJS
• DevOps
• Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake
Skills & Abilities
• Strong proficiency in Power BI, advanced DAX, and Power Query.
• Solid understanding of SQL, including designing tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and optimizing queries.
• Ability to design and maintain ETL solutions using SSIS.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments efficiently.
• Working knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Innovative, mature, and experienced professional who proactively identifies opportunities for technical or process improvements.
Compensation: $45-50/hr
