Role description
Role Overview
The RPA Business Analyst plays a key role in identifying, analyzing, and designing automation solutions that optimize business processes. This role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and the RPA development team to ensure that automated solutions meet business requirements, improve efficiency, reduce errors, and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities1. Process Assessment & Requirement Gathering
Work with business stakeholders to identify, assess, and prioritize processes suitable for automation.
Conduct detailed process analysis, including documentation of AS-IS processes, process maps, workflows, and pain points.
Collect and translate business requirements into clear, concise automation specifications (PDD β Process Design Document).
1. Solution Design & Documentation
Collaborate with RPA developers to translate functional requirements into automation designs (SDD β Solution Design Document).
Ensure that automation solutions adhere to business rules, compliance standards, and best practices.
Support development teams with clarifications on requirements and assist in functional testing.
1. Stakeholder Management
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings with cross-functional teams.
Communicate timelines, constraints, and expectations effectively with business users and technical teams.
Manage feedback loops and ensure stakeholder alignment at all stages of the RPA lifecycle.
1. UAT & Implementation Support
Develop test cases and validate automation outcomes during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Support deployment activities and ensure smooth go-live transitions.
Document post-production observations and ensure proper knowledge handover.
1. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance existing automations and evaluate the impact of change requests.
Track and measure automation benefits (time savings, accuracy, ROI).
Support best practices, standards, and governance for the RPA program.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
2β5 years of experience as a Business Analyst; at least 1β2 years in RPA projects preferred.
Experience with RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism.
Strong analytical, process mapping, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with tools like MS Visio, Lucidchart, or other workflow diagramming tools.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and automation governance.
Preferred Qualifications
RPA certifications (UiPath BA, Blue Prism Analyst, Automation Anywhere Analyst).
Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
Exposure to OCR, AI/ML integrations, or Intelligent Automation platforms.
