Job Description: SAP Business Intelligence Consultant Location: Onsite – Gaithersburg, MD 20877 Type: Contract Level: Senior / Lead Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant to bridge the gap between legacy environments and modern S/4HANA technologies. The ideal candidate will provide Tier II and III support while leading the design and implementation of advanced reporting solutions. You will work at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, ensuring our global BI landscape is performant, scalable, and aligned with SAP’s latest best practices. Key Responsibilities 1. Architecture & Solution Design • Hybrid Ecosystem Management: Support and integrate S/4HANA, SAP ECC 6.0, and SAP BI 7.4 environments. • Modern Modeling: Design and build high-performance solutions using CDS Views, AMDP, SQL Scripting, and HANA Studio. • Full-Stack Development: Leverage the BOPF framework to build and support S/4HANA UI5 and Fiori applications. • Standardization: Establish and enforce SAP BI development standards and architectural best practices across the organization. 1. End-to-End Reporting & Analytics • Front-End Delivery: Create complex dashboards and reports using Analysis for Office, Web Intelligence (WebI), Analysis for OLAP, and BEx Query Designer. • Legacy Maintenance: Maintain and enhance BEx Analyzers and Web Application Designer (WAD) reports for older environments. • Data Visualization: Translate complex business requirements into intuitive, value-add reporting solutions that drive executive decision-making. 1. ETL & Data Management • Data Extraction: Develop and maintain custom and pre-delivered extractors for both SAP and non-SAP data sources. • Data Flow Optimization: Design Start/Update/Transfer routines and manage complex Process Chains for automated daily, weekly, and monthly data loads. • Integrity & Performance: Conduct performance tuning, debugging, and data validation to ensure sub-second query response times and 100% data accuracy. 1. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership • Requirement Gathering: Act as a liaison between IT and business leaders to translate functional needs into technical specifications. • Project Management: Develop technical plans with accurate duration estimates and execute deliverables within strict deadlines. • Mentorship: Provide technical training to Power Users and mentor junior developers on the team. • Collaboration: Coordinate with DBA and BASIS teams to align with change management processes and optimize system access. Technical Skills & Qualifications Required Experience • SAP Core: Extensive experience in SAP BI 7.4, SAP ECC 6.0, and S/4HANA. • Development Tools: Proficiency in HANA Studio, ABAP (specifically for BI), CDS Views, and AMDP. • Reporting Suite: Expert knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), Web Intelligence, and Analysis for Office. • Architecture: Strong understanding of Star Schema, Master Data, ODS, and Cube design. Education & Certifications • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Certifications: SAP Certified Technology Associate (SAP BW or HANA) is highly preferred.
