Salary / Rate: £550-£750 Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and security-cleared Design Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of robust, scalable, and secure enterprise architectures. You will play a key role in shaping high-level solution designs across complex environments, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technical standards, and compliance requirements.
This role requires someone with strong technical acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a track record of delivering enterprise-grade architectural solutions in secure or regulated environments. Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design of end-to-end solution architectures, ensuring integration with existing platforms and services
• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and high-performance technical solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, and project managers to ensure successful solution delivery
• Produce high-quality architectural documentation including HLDs, LLDs, and design blueprints
• Ensure solutions adhere to architectural standards, principles, and best practices
• Evaluate and select technologies, tools, and frameworks to meet project and organisational needs
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks and technical debt early in the design phase
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and data protection requirements Essential Skills & Experience:
• Active SC Clearance (Security Check) is required
• Strong background in solution architecture within complex, high-assurance environments
• Experience designing enterprise-level systems including integration, application, data, and infrastructure components
• Deep understanding of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
• Proven experience across cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), hybrid, and on-premises architectures
• Familiarity with secure design principles and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups, translating technical designs into business context
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and presentation Desirable:
• Professional certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, or similar
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and modern software delivery practices
• Experience in highly regulated sectors (e.g., finance, telecoms, energy)
• Exposure to containerisation, microservices architecture, and API management
• Knowledge of data architecture and security-by-design practices
