Role description
Title: Security Data Engineer Duration: 3–5 months Location: Remote Pay: $50/hr Key Responsibilities • Develop scripts to manipulate, normalize, and correlate data sets from multiple sources. • Map external IP addresses to internal devices using firewall rules, load balancer logic, and traffic patterns. • Parse and interpret F5 BIG-IP logs and other security data sources. • Compare load balancer data with firewall rule sets to identify accurate traffic paths. • Build a repeatable data correlation process to support internal vulnerability visibility. • Integrate data via APIs and automate collection from perimeter and internal systems. • Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the mapping workflow. Required Skills & Experience • Strong scripting experience (PowerShell strongly preferred). • Hands-on experience with API integrations. • Proficient in data manipulation, transformation, and multi-source data management. • Ability to normalize and correlate complex datasets. • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly traffic flow and IP addressing. Security & Infrastructure Knowledge (Critical) • Experience analyzing and interpreting firewall rules. • Understanding of load balancer logic and how external traffic is translated internally. • Familiarity with F5 BIG-IP ecosystems, including: • Working with F5 logs • Understanding traffic routing and translation • Ability to identify relationships between perimeter-facing assets and internal infrastructure
