This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior AI Engineer to apply generative AI to educational technology focused on literacy. You will collaborate closely with product, design, engineering, and content teams to integrate AI-driven features that enhance reading and writing learning experiences. Your work will include developing evaluation datasets, monitoring and improving AI output quality, and implementing techniques to ensure high-performing, bias-aware AI systems. The role emphasizes experimentation, iterative improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful tools that support educators and learners. You will contribute to shaping AI-driven literacy solutions while working in a mission-driven, remote-friendly environment.
Accountabilities:
β’ Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to build AI features that support literacy education use cases
β’ Develop test datasets and evaluation criteria to assess AI output quality
β’ Measure, maintain, and improve AI performance over time through experimentation with prompting, scaffolding, and architectural implementations
β’ Implement strategies for bias mitigation and ensure ethical AI usage in educational contexts
β’ Analyze interaction data to derive actionable insights for optimizing user experience
β’ Stay informed about developments in AI, integrating research and industry trends into product features
β’ Lead technical projects, provide guidance to team members, and document workflows and processes effectively
Requirements
β’ 5+ years of relevant technical experience in software engineering, ML engineering, data science, or related roles
β’ 2+ years of applying AI, machine learning, or natural language processing to real-world problems
β’ 1+ year of experience in education-related fields, focusing on literacy, instructional design, or learning science research
β’ Strong proficiency with Python and/or Go for AI and software development
β’ Experience guiding generative AI outputs using techniques such as prompt chaining, RAG, tool-calling, and fine-tuning
β’ Ability to develop evaluation datasets, benchmark model performance, and ensure high-quality AI outputs
β’ Solid understanding of large language models, their capabilities, and limitations
β’ Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills for cross-functional teamwork
β’ Awareness of ethical considerations and bias mitigation strategies in AI systems
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; postgraduate degree is a plus
