Senior AI Engineer (Python & AI SME) 📍 Remote (Preference: Eagan, MN) 💼 Contract | Senior Level | IT/AI/ML About the Role We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Python/AI expert who can also communicate complex concepts to executives and contribute to enterprise-wide innovation. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop scalable AI/ML solutions using Python and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Spark ML). • Perform data engineering tasks: acquisition, cleaning, preprocessing, transformation, feature engineering. • Deploy cloud-based AI applications (AWS, Azure, GCP) with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes). • Apply software engineering best practices: Git, CI/CD, testing, code reviews. • Build machine learning pipelines and production-grade ML models. • Develop and integrate APIs for enterprise-scale systems. • Troubleshoot and optimize AI/ML solutions in large-scale enterprise ecosystems. • Communicate technical solutions to both technical and executive stakeholders via documentation, presentations, and diagrams. • Stay updated on Generative AI, prompt engineering, and emerging AI workflows. Desirable Skills • Experience with MCP servers & Agentic AI workflows. • Proficiency with Visio / Draw.io (diagrams), Power BI / Excel (data visualization). • Strong documentation and presentation skills (Word, PowerPoint). • Knowledge of AI ethics, data privacy, and secure coding practices. • Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases. • Familiarity with design patterns for scalable AI solutions. Qualifications • 20+ years of relevant IT/AI experience (hands-on, not just academic/training). • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Recognized as a senior SME/consultant capable of providing expert advice, architecture strategy, and enterprise-scale innovation.
