Role description
Senior Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer Location: Remote, EST preferred Employment Type: Contract, (40 hours/week) Role Overview Our client is moving from an early‑stage environment into a more scaled, operationally mature organization. They are investing heavily in data foundations and are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to own and modernize their customer and machine data ecosystem. This role centers on building core datasets, creating structure out of complexity, and enabling analytics, data products, and future ML initiatives. Key Responsibilities β€’ Develop and maintain customer and machine master datasets, including historical tracking and entity changes over time. β€’ Build backend data structures that support consistent, reliable use of these records across teams. β€’ Create a clean, unified data layer for downstream consumers and synchronize data across interconnected systems. β€’ Establish clear data lineage and documentation for merges, updates, and operational changes. β€’ Produce foundational datasets plus light analytical outputs (e.g., simple dashboards) when needed. β€’ Partner with analytics, engineering, and business stakeholders to support advanced modeling and data product use cases. What You'll Bring Must-Have Skills β€’ Strong command of data modeling (Snowflake + dbt experience strongly preferred) β€’ Practical experience with data governance, standardization, and documentation β€’ Ability to integrate and reconcile data from varied, complex, and sometimes bidirectional sources β€’ Experience building and maintaining reliable pipelines and datasets in a fast-moving environment Nice-to-Haves β€’ Background designing layered data architectures β€’ Familiarity with visualization tools for simple reporting β€’ Understanding of ML needs and model-ready data structures β€’ Exposure to IoT or streaming data environments How You Work β€’ Thrive in environments where solutions are delivered iteratively rather than through long release cycles β€’ Comfortable taking ownership, filling gaps, and moving work forward independently β€’ Collaborative and low-ego-able to work smoothly with technical peers and cross-functional partners β€’ Resourceful, hands-on, and willing to navigate ambiguity to create clarity β€’ Strong communicator who proactively engages leadership when decisions or direction are needed Ideal Candidate Profile You are someone who enjoys building structure, solving messy data challenges, and designing systems that scale. You combine technical depth with a practical mindset and are energized by roles where you own an entire data domain end-to-end. APPLY DIRECTLY, WE ARE NOT USING THIRD PARTIES FOR THIS SEARCH
