Role description
Duration: 5+ Months
Location: PA-Philadelphia, Hybrid 3-4 days onsite
Overview: Every Turnberry consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will join Turnberry's Data Strategy and Intelligence practice and service. This service provides insights into company data, advanced analytics solutions, robust data governance, and tailored solutions for specific data challenges.
Responsibilities
β’ Platform Engineering and Operations
β’ Provide L3/L4 production support for Looker (Dev/Prod)
β’ Lead and validate upgrades, releases, and patching
β’ Support GitHub/LookML workflows and Dev/Prod coordination
β’ Troubleshoot complex performance and modeling issues
β’ Access, Governance, and Identity
β’ Implement scripted user provisioning and entitlement management
β’ Address access issues including Azure AD group synchronization and entitlement drift
β’ Establish governance guardrails and documentation
β’ API and Advanced Use Cases
β’ Support Looker APIs (Inline Queries, Query ID, Admin APIs)
β’ Validate performance, concurrency, and usage patterns
β’ Enable API driven AI use cases (dynamic SQL generation)
β’ Cloud Migration (Looker Core)
β’ Define and execute test criteria for customer hosted β Google hosted Looker Core
β’ Support POC execution with minimal platform risk
β’ Data Platform Modernization
β’ Support Teradata to Snowflake query validation via Looker
β’ Standardize modeling, query behavior, and performance expectations
β’ Knowledge Transfer
β’ Produce documentation, runbooks, and best practices
β’ Mentor internal engineers to transition ownership
β’ Reduced risk during upgrades and migration activities
β’ Successful execution of Looker Core POC
β’ Improved platform stability, governance, and performance
β’ Knowledge transfer enabling long term in house ownership
Qualifications
β’ 7+ years in analytics/BI engineering roles
β’ 4+ years of hands on Looker experience in enterprise environments
β’ Expert in LookML, Looker Dev/Prod workflows, and GitHub based CI/CD
β’ Strong Looker API experience (Inline Queries, SDKs, Admin APIs)
β’ Experience supporting platforms with 1,000+ users
β’ Familiarity with identity and access management (Azure AD preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience migrating Looker to Google hosted Looker Core
β’ Experience with Teradata and Snowflake
β’ Exposure to AI/ML enabled analytics or conversational BI
The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 or the hourly equivalent.
