Senior AWS Workspace Administrator
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior AWS Workspace Administrator to join our dedicated team supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. This role will play a pivotal role in managing the cloud developer experience, enhancing system reliability, and maintainability.
Work Location: Remote based on the needs and direction of the customer.
Basic Required Qualifications and Skills:
β’ A bachelorβs degree in a relevant business or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work or military experience.
β’ At start date, must possess one or more of the following certifications in active status:
CompTIA SecurityX (CompTIA Security Expert)
CASP+ CE (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner)
CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or Associate
CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
β’ Minimum 5 years of experience administering complex Java-based applications within AWS Workspaces.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of standard tools, including IDEs such as VS Code (VSC), Eclipse, or CodeReady; text editors like vi, nano, or VSC; Maven/Maven wrapper builds; and Source Control Management (SCM) tools like Git.
β’ Proficiency in full-stack development, involving front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and data-driven systems.
β’ Experience with Agile-enhancing tools such as Jira, Confluence, and others.
β’ Proven experience in building software or solutions using:
β’ Programming Languages: HTML, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Python
β’ Relational Databases: PostgreSQL
β’ Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams
β’ Frameworks: Spring, Spring Boot
β’ Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Amazon Linux
β’ Cloud Computing: Experience with Docker, Container Registry, and Kubernetes
β’ Source Code Management: Git
β’ Adept at immersing in new contexts and gaining expertise in new tools, with a self-motivated attitude and the ability to inspire others while maintaining focus.
β’ Extensive knowledge of various design patterns, including creational, structural, and behavioral patterns.
β’ Capable of addressing and resolving complex application issues effectively, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
β’ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, complemented by collaboration, facilitation, and leadership abilities.
β’ Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
β’ All applicants must have a current DoD successfully adjudicated T3 investigation. Most commonly attained with a SECRET clearance (Note: a SECRET clearance is not required, but the T3 investigation is necessary to meet IT-II privileged access designation.

β’ Certified AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional.
β’ Certified AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate.
β’ Certified AWS Solutions Architect - Associate.
Proficient in Oracle RDBMS version 19c developer functionality, with the ability to establish connections and perform API calls (not at DBA or database designer level).
Familiarity with:
β’ Oracle SQL
β’ GitLab and Bitbucket
Experience with:
β’ Struts framework.
β’ Windows OS.
β’ Administering Windows Azure Virtual Desktop environments
β’ Jenkins for build automation and deployment management
β’ Skilled in SonarLint and SonarQube for static code analysis, quality assurance, and security checks.
β’ Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot, with a focus on microservices architecture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
β’ Manage virtual desktops provided to users, ensuring optimal access, security, and performance.
β’ Administer and manage custom AWS Golden Images and bundles used for provisioning local developer workspaces.
β’ Oversee user account lifecycle management within AWS Workspaces, including addition and removal.
β’ Configure Amazon CloudWatch monitoring and alerts for AWS Workspaces, handling alert responses and performance tuning effectively.
β’ Provide support to other teams by optimizing performance and troubleshooting workspace issues.
β’ Develop and implement a comprehensive backup strategy for AWS Workspaces recovery.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend appropriate services based on data and security requirements.
β’ Adhere to industry best practices, assisting in the development and implementation of plans for government systems adoption.
β’ Develop and provide technical guidance, advocating cloud tool usage across the development team.
β’ Assess and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
β’ Ensure software development aligns with Agile and test-driven development principles, supported by robust documentation, user-centered design, and extensible infrastructure.
β’ Stay current on technology developments as required.
β’ Engage in special projects as necessary.
β’ Perform other assigned duties as required.
