Role description
Role- Senior Azure Cloud Engineer Location: Fremont, CA β€’ Design, build, and support Azure Data Services including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, ADLS, Event Hub, Service Bus, Redis Cache, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse and associated data infrastructure. β€’ Develop and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, or Ansible for consistent, repeatable provisioning of data environments. β€’ Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment, schema operations, patching automation, and environment updates using Azure DevOps. β€’ Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex issues related to networking, identity, performance, connectivity, and data platform integration. β€’ Implement automations for backups, patching, DR workflows, configuration drift detection, and platform monitoring. β€’ Support AKS clusters for data microservices, operators, and related workloads including scaling, storage classes, networking, and observability. β€’ Ensure security and compliance through Azure Policy, RBAC, Managed Identities, private endpoints, and data governance best practices. β€’ Optimize cloud resource usage through performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost analysis for data workloads. β€’ Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and security teams to ensure smooth delivery of data-related application requirements. β€’ Document technical procedures, automation workflows, and environment standards for easy handoff and operational continuity. Requirements β€’ 10+ years of professional experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, or data platform engineering. β€’ 6+ years of hands-on Azure engineering experience, with deep expertise in provisioning, securing, and supporting Azure Data Services. β€’ Demonstrated mastery in Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible for building scalable, modular IaC frameworks supporting complex data environments. β€’ Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for building advanced automation, operational tooling, and integration scripts. β€’ Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and data service lifecycle management. β€’ In-depth understanding of Azure data servicesβ€”including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, ADLS, Event Hub, Service Bus, Synapse, Redis Cache, Key Vault, MS Fabric and related observability tooling. β€’ Strong architectural knowledge of enterprise cloud networking: VNETs, NSGs, firewalls, private endpoints, private DNS, routing, hybrid connectivity, and secure data access paths. β€’ Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/AKS, Helm, operators, storage classes, secrets management, and supporting data-related microservices at scale. β€’ Expertise with Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, and building dashboards/alerts for data workloads and cloud infrastructure. β€’ Solid understanding of cloud security and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001) and their practical implementation for data systems, encryption, and governance. β€’ Proven experience implementing identity and access controls using Azure AD, Conditional Access, RBAC, and Managed Identities. β€’ Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaboration, influence architectural direction, and communicate technical decisions to both technical and executive stakeholders.
