Role description
Responsibilities Kforce has a client in Houston, TX that is seeking a Senior Backend/API Developer. Summary: We are seeking a Senior Backend/API Developer to support the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of backend services and API-driven applications. This role will focus on building reliable, scalable solutions using C#/.NET within a modern microservices environment. The developer will help create and maintain RESTful APIs, improve backend performance, support database and data-related initiatives, and contribute to cloud-based application modernization efforts. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining backend services, designing APIs that integrate smoothly with frontend applications, supporting microservices design and implementation, and working with relational and NoSQL databases. The role will also involve containerized application development, cloud-based backend services, ETL/data pipeline work, data migration support, and applying secure coding practices across distributed systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on backend engineer who can troubleshoot complex technical issues, collaborate across development teams, and contribute to scalable, secure, and maintainable application architecture. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, experience working in modern cloud and container environments, and the ability to support both new development and modernization of existing systems. Requirements β€’ 7+ years of professional backend development experience using C#/.NET β€’ Strong experience designing, building, and supporting RESTful APIs β€’ Experience working within microservices-based architectures, including service design, decomposition, and communication between services β€’ Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application development and deployment β€’ Strong SQL Server experience, including relational database design, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting β€’ Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL database platforms β€’ Hands-on AWS experience, including RDS and Lambda β€’ Knowledge of ETL processes, data pipeline development, and data transformation β€’ Experience supporting cloud migration and application modernization efforts β€’ Experience with complex data migration activities, with attention to data accuracy and continuity β€’ Strong understanding of security principles, including authentication, authorization, encryption, API security, secure coding, OWASP guidance, and data protection β€’ Experience using Git or similar version control tools β€’ Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in distributed application environments Preferred Skills β€’ Experience with AWS services such as S3, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, or CloudWatch β€’ Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices β€’ Experience with messaging or queueing tools such as SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka β€’ Experience collaborating with React TypeScript frontend teams The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
