Role description
Kingston University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior BI Technical Analyst to join our Portfolio Performance team on a maternity cover basis. This team plays a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making across the University through the delivery of high-quality data insights.
As a technical lead, you will work with our Data Warehouse Contractor for the design, development, and enhancement of our data warehouse and BI solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders across the University to gather requirements, build dashboards, and ensure data integrity and performance using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server BI Suite and Tableau.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design and implementation of data models and BI solutions.
Supporting student number intake and population modelling.
Developing dashboards that provide actionable insights.
Facilitating stakeholder workshops and reporting demos.
Supporting migration from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud.
Ensuring BI and DWH technologies are fit for purpose and aligned with governance standards.
Deputising for the Head of Portfolio Performance when required.

The Person
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will be:
Essential:
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience.
Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server and Tableau (ideally Tableau Cloud).
Skilled in stakeholder engagement and influencing senior decision-makers.
Experienced in managing the full BI/DWH service lifecycle.
Excellent in communication, problem-solving, and customer service.
Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to change.
Desirable:
Experience in the Higher Education sector.
Familiarity with enterprise applications and databases, including HR and Finance.
Previous experience in a project-based environment.
You will be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working with stakeholders across the University including senior leadership, academic staff, and external consultants.

This fixed term position is available as a result of maternity leave and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period.
