Role description
Senior Data Analyst (Healthcare Payer & Care Management)
Location: Remote (United States)
Hours: MST Time Zone
Duration: 6-Month Contract
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive, forward-thinking Senior Data Analyst to join a core technical team within our payer client. In this role, you will act as a bridge between complex data environments and clinical leadership. You will be responsible for data design, navigating data warehouses, and translating high-level business concepts into technical deliverables that improve Care Management (CM) and Utilization Management (UM) outcomes.
Technical Skillset
1. SQL & Data Engineering (Primary Focus)
• Advanced Microsoft SQL: Expert-level querying and data manipulation.
• Data Warehouse Navigation: Proven experience extracting and transforming data within large-scale warehouses.
• Databricks: Hands-on experience within a Databricks environment is highly preferred.
1. Data Modeling & Design
• Relational Design: Deep understanding of how tables relate, specifically within a clinical context.
• Warehouse Structures: Ability to design and maintain efficient data structures.
1. Reporting & Visualization
• Tableau: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency. (Note: This role is more heavily weighted toward SQL/Engineering than visualization).
• Cognos: Experience with IBM Cognos is a strong "nice to have."
Domain Expertise: The Payer Perspective
The ideal candidate must have a background working on the Payer side of healthcare, specifically dealing with:
• UM/CM Workflows: Understanding how Care Managers enter data and how those clinical workflows impact outcome metrics.
• Clinical/EMR Data: Familiarity with table structures and the nuances of clinical content.
• Claims Data: Experience with claims data is preferred to provide a holistic view of the member journey.
Soft Skills & Responsibilities
• Consultative Approach: You will meet directly with customers to translate their needs into task-specific deliverables.
• Proactive Communication: We need a "thinker," not just a "doer." You should be comfortable asking high-level questions to ensure data integrity.
• Independence & Collaboration: While you will work closely with our core team of four, you must be able to drive projects independently.
• Documentation: Strong habits in documenting data lineage and logic for long-term sustainability.
