Role description
Senior Data Analyst Lancaster, PA (Hybrid) Contract to hire About: A Senior Data Analyst of Data & AI Enablement plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s data-driven culture. This role is responsible for enabling business intelligence (BI) capabilities, driving data literacy, and implementing scalable self-service analytics. Acting as a bridge between IT and internal stakeholders, the Senior Data Analyst educates and empowers business leaders and users on the art of the possible with data and AI while establishing standards, governance, and best practices for BI development and usage. Responsibilities: BI Solutions & Executive Reporting • Develop and enhance executive and operational dashboards and analytics solutions using enterprise BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). • Translate business needs into clear requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria) and deliver analytics that drive measurable business outcomes. • Partner with data engineering and platform teams to ensure datasets and models are reusable, scalable, well-documented, and business-friendly. • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for analytics deliverables, including test scripts, workshops, and sign-off. Governed Self-Service Analytics (Strategy + Adoption) • Define and execute a roadmap for governed self-service analytics across the enterprise. • Establish guardrails that enable business users to perform ad hoc analysis and build reports/dashboards responsibly and securely. • Create an “enterprise certification” approach for both IT-built and business-built reports/dashboards (e.g., certified datasets, endorsed reports, naming/UX standards). Standards, Governance & Trusted Data • Build and maintain BI development standards (data modeling, dashboard design, performance optimization, documentation). • Create and maintain a data dictionary / KPI definitions in partnership with data owners and governance council. • Promote consistent naming conventions, design standards, and documentation practices to improve trust and reuse. • Partner with the Data & AI Governance Council to align analytics solutions with data quality, security, privacy, and compliance requirements. Enablement, Training & Data Literacy • Design and deliver a data literacy and BI enablement program, including personas, learning paths, and role-based development tracks. • Develop training content (hands-on workshops, job aids, videos, FAQs) and run office hours to support users at varying skill levels. • Lead or co-lead BI Communities of Practice and user groups to share wins, tips, standards, and new capabilities. • Create and execute an annual analytics communications plan (newsletters/Teams posts, training calendar, release notes, capability launches). Access Management & Tooling • Define and document standard operating procedures for analytics tools and licensing expectations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx). • Support BI access governance in partnership with IT/security to ensure appropriate, secure, and timely access to trusted data. Operational / Legacy Support (as needed) • Provide support for select legacy reports, platforms, and manual processes to maintain continuity (“keep the lights on”), while identifying opportunities to simplify, automate, and retire low-value work. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in data analytics / BI / reporting roles. • Strong experience with Power BI and/or Tableau (data modeling, dashboard design, performance tuning). • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective, consumable analytics solutions. • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data concepts to non-technical audiences. • Experience building or delivering analytics enablement (training programs, documentation, or communities of practice).
