Role description
Our client, a highly regarded luxury residential real estate company with over 20 commercial and residential properties nationwide, is seeking a proactive Senior Data Consultant for a rolling contract engagement.
They are urgently seeking a Senior Data Consultant to support a high-visibility data initiative focused on improving data clarity, consistency, and integrity across multiple systems. This role will play a key part in establishing foundational documentation and supporting cross-functional alignment as the organization evolves its data strategy.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a Microsoft SQL Server environment, collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders, and delivering meaningful improvements under tight timelines. This role offers the opportunity to influence foundational data standards and documentation within a robust, growing environment.
Hybrid role, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite at their Downtown Chicago office- conveniently located near Union Station and several CTA stops. Applicants must be local to Chicago area. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
Responsibilities:
• Perform advanced SQL analysis across multiple systems and datasets
• Create and maintain a Data Dictionary to document core data elements and definitions
• Improve data integrity, consistency, and accuracy through structured analysis and recommendations
• Build and optimize tables, views, joins, and relationships within SQL Server
• Partner with internal database and technical teams to support ongoing development efforts
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and standardize definitions
• Work independently and help define future data and engineering needs
Required:
• 8+ years of experience in a Data Analyst / SQL Analyst capacity
• Advanced SQL skills (SQL Server strongly preferred)
• Proven experience creating or maintaining Data Dictionaries
• Strong knowledge of relational data models and data integrity best practices
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working with both business and technical teams
• Cloud experience is NOT a hard requirement
Nice to Have:
• Consulting or project-based background
• Exposure to backend systems, integrations, or APIs (conceptual understanding)
• Familiarity with data architecture concepts (e.g., Medallion Architecture, data lakes/warehousing concepts)
• Experience with Oracle or other enterprise databases
Environment:
• Microsoft SQL Server / Microsoft-centric stack
• Multiple source systems and evolving data standards
• Small team with high urgency and strong executive visibility
