Data Engineer Level III/IV

Responsibilities
How Youβll Make an Impact
β’ β’ Design and implement new software functionality that is testable, performant, and meets business and technical requirements without oversight
β’ β’ Participate in the design and integration of dependent systems including APIs, clients, data stores, and CI/CD pipelines
β’ β’ Analyze and evaluate market products to identify strengths and weaknesses, informing Spectrumβs technology roadmap
β’ β’ Lead triage for critical production issues, manage hotfixes, resolve system integration challenges, and drive RCA activities for escaped defects
β’ β’ Collaborate with MLOps, data science and data insights teams to build AI/ML workflows.
β’ β’ Enforce approved code patterns and best practices across application domains, visualizing and closing technical debt
β’ β’ Mentor Software Developers I-V, participate in candidate interviews, and provide technical consulting across internal groups
β’ β’ Manage multiple interconnected projects or features, deliver technical documentation, cut release branches, and provide deployment artifacts to operations
β’ β’ Continuously improve application performance, scalability, resilience, and availability while identifying opportunities for optimization

β’ β’ Masterβs degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
β’ 6+ years database Experience
β’ β’ management systems experience
β’ β’ 6+ years coding, testing and designing software experience
β’ β’ 6+ years software development methodology experience
β’ Skills
β’ β’ Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
β’ β’ Expert-level experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows. Proficient on data orchestration tooling like Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
β’ β’ Strong programming skills in Python and Scala with experience optimizing complex queries and data transformations for performance and cost efficiency
β’ β’ Strong understanding of database systems and data processing frameworks (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Spark, PySpark, Databricks).
β’ β’ Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and related services (e.g., AWS Lambda, S3, EC2, EventBridge, Athena).
β’ β’ Experience working within the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, YARN, or related technologies).
β’ β’ Deep understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and performance optimization for Big Data.
β’ β’ Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation to ensure the reliability, maintainability, and scalability of our pipelines
β’ β’ Experience with data quality frameworks, data governance practices, and implementing monitoring and alerting solutions for data pipelines
β’ β’ The ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to achieve commitments, deliver complete solutions but release them in small batches, and identify and negotiate important tradeoffs.
β’ β’ Strong problem solver who ensures systems are built with longevity and creates innovative ways to resolve issues.
β’ β’ Experienced in production operations of developed software, software development methodologies, and applying appropriate software design patterns to the situation
