hackajob has partnered with a global technology and management consultancy, specializing in driving transformation across the financial services and energy industries, and we're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to work on a SAS to Python migration!
Role: Senior Data Engineer
Location: McLean, VA. (Fully on-site position)
Rates: $45 to $60, depending on the type of contract (1099 or W2). This role IS NOT open to a C2C basis.
Work Authorization: This role requires you to be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of SAS programming
• 4+ years of Python development
• Proven SAS-to-Python migration experience
• Advanced SQL skills
• Mortgage or financial domain experience is a plus
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and document existing SAS scripts used for ETL and reporting
• Migrate SAS logic into clean, maintainable Python (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy)
• Validate functional equivalence between SAS and Python outputs
• Use GitHub for version control and collaboration
• Leverage AI tools such as GitHub Copilot where appropriate
• Support enterprise data warehousing pipelines
