Akkodis is seeking a β βData Engineer IIIβ for a Contract position with a client located in San Jose, CA.
Pay Range: $65 - $75/hr. (The rate/salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.).
Job Description:
Lead data architecture design and implementation for the Customer Data Store platform, focusing on optimal utilization of GCP data services. Define data models, access patterns, and migration strategies for transitioning from Oracle to cloud-native solutions.
Essential Responsibilities:
β’ Design and implement data models for Spanner and Bigtable based on access patterns
β’ Create data architecture blueprints for multi-region, globally distributed systems
β’ Lead data migration strategy from Oracle to GCP including schema conversion
β’ Optimize query performance and data access patterns for sub-10ms latency
β’ Design consistency models and transaction boundaries for distributed data
β’ Implement CQRS patterns and event sourcing where appropriate
β’ Collaborate with application teams to define data contracts and APIs
β’ Establish data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
β’ Prototype and validate performance characteristics of different data storage options - Document data architecture decisions and best practices
Required Qualifications:
β’ Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture and database design
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
β’ Deep expertise in both relational and NoSQL database technologies
β’ Experience with distributed database systems and CAP theorem implications
β’ Strong SQL and data modeling skills
β’ Experience with database migration projects
β’ Understanding of data consistency, replication, and partitioning strategies
Technical Skills Required:
β’ Proficiency in Java with experience in Spring Data, JPA/Hibernate
β’ Experience building reactive data access layers with R2DBC
β’ Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Spanner and Bigtable
β’ Knowledge of data streaming with Apache Beam/Dataflow
β’ Experience with CDC tools (Debezium, Striim, GoldenGate)
β’ Understanding of event-driven architectures with Pub/Sub or Kafka
β’ Expertise in query optimization and database performance tuning
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Spanner and Bigtable
β’ Oracle database administration and migration experience
β’ Experience with real-time data streaming and CDC technologies
β’ Knowledge of data mesh and domain-driven design principles
