Senior Data Engineer / Data Analyst - FinOps About this Featured Opportunity: We are looking for a Data Engineer/Data Analyst with strong FinOps (Cloud Financial Operations) experience to support our Data Platform/Engineering teams. The ideal candidate should bring both technical data skills and financial acumen. In this role, you will help internal customers better understand their financial usage of the data platform and deliver cost and usage report analytics. The Opportunity for You: The ideal candidate has strong finance modeling and business case analysis skills, along with experience in planning, forecasting, and business management. You should be able to manage financial reporting, data collection, and dashboard integration, while overseeing central chargeback and showback processes, as well as OPEX/COGS split and allocation. This role requires central ownership of all cost, reporting, P&L, and business reporting for infrastructure, including managing monthly forecast updates, maintaining a unified financial model that spans all lines of business, and supporting business management for both on-prem and third-party environments. You will also build and deliver executive-level presentations that translate complex financial and operational insights into actionable recommendations. Responsibilities include: • Partnering with engineering, product, and finance teams to analyze cloud spend (AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent) and identify optimization opportunities. • Building dashboards, reports, and cost allocation models for chargeback/showback. • Tracking and forecasting cloud usage (compute, storage, networking) in alignment with business and LOB needs. • Performing deep-dive analysis on usage anomalies, budget overruns, and ROI of infrastructure programs. • Supporting quarterly and annual planning with insights into capacity and cost drivers. Key Success Factors (Must Haves): • 8+ YOE in a Data Engineering & Analytics role with strong SQL and data visualization skills (Tableau, Superset, Looker, or Power BI). • Proven ability to create ETL pipelines and dashboards for data analysis and financial reporting . • Hands-on experience with cloud cost and billing data (e.g., AWS CUR, GCP Billing Export, Azure Cost Management). • Deep understanding of public cloud pricing models (AWS, Azure, GCP), compute/storage/networking costs, instance types , serverless pricing, tagging , and resource hierarchy . • Must have experience analyzing cloud cost and building usage reports. • Strong experience with FinOps practices like tagging, cost allocation, budgeting/forecasting, and efficiency reporting. • Strong foundation in financial operations , cost allocation , budgeting/forecasting , and efficiency reporting. • Must have knowledge of showback/chargeback and unit-based cost metrics (e.g., cost per job, cost per API call, cost per GB processed). • Experience building FinOps dashboards and KPIs to improve cost transparency and forecasting accuracy. • Proficiency in Python and SQL for scripting and automation . • Experience with CI/CD pipelines , APIs, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
