Role description
| Location: Remote (EST Hours) | Contract
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team, focusing on enterprise data operations and Braze CRM integration within an AWS, Snowflake, and DBT environment. This role involves building scalable customer and marketing data pipelines, enabling segmentation and campaign activation, and supporting the overall Customer Data Platform strategy in a dynamic, cloud-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Designs and maintains scalable data pipelines in AWS and Snowflake for customer, transactional, and marketing data.
• Builds and supports a Snowflake-based marketing data warehouse to facilitate data ingestion into Braze CRM.
• Defines and manages customer segmentation, audience creation, and email/SMS subscription logic within Snowflake.
• Develops Python-based JSON transformations and API integrations to synchronize data with Braze.
• Creates and maintains ELT workflows using Snowflake SQL, Python, and DBT.
• Establishes and supports CI/CD pipelines for ELT processes utilizing GitHub.
• Implements and maintains layered Snowflake architecture, including raw, prepared, and transformed data layers.
• Builds automated data ingestion workflows using Snowpipe and consolidates data from multiple enterprise systems.
• Orchestrates workflows with Airflow, Astro, or similar tools.
• Monitors data quality, governance, and reconciliation across the platform.
• Supports Customer Data Platform (CDP) and customer 360 initiatives.
• Collaborates with CRM, marketing, and analytics teams to enable personalization and campaign delivery.
Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer in cloud-based environments.
• 4+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience, including architecture, data modeling, and ELT development.
• 2+ years supporting Braze or similar CRM/customer engagement platforms.
• Proven experience working in modern ELT and cloud data environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build and support data pipelines and workflow orchestration.
• Strong expertise in customer and marketing data pipelines, segmentation, and campaign activation.
• Proficiency in Python, including API integration and JSON processing.
• Advanced SQL skills.
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD processes.
• Knowledge of Snowpipe and handling semi-structured/JSON data.
• Solid understanding of Customer Data Platform (CDP) concepts and retail customer data.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience with DBT.
• 2+ years of experience with Airflow, Astro, or similar orchestration tools.
• Experience in retail or e-commerce environments.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, or Step Functions.
• Knowledge of no-code ETL tools like FiveTran.
• Experience centralizing SAS or BW data into Snowflake.
• Hands-on experience with Braze Campaigns, Canvas, Currents, or user profile integrations.
