Senior Data Engineer Location | UK (remote) Type | Interim / Contract ZC1001 Overview We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong, hands-on expertise in Databricks and proven experience leading teams of engineers. The role focuses on building and optimising large-scale data solutions, ensuring data reliability, scalability, and performance across the organisation. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms using Databricks. • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, setting best practices and ensuring high-quality delivery. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data science, analytics, and business stakeholders. • Implement robust data governance, quality, and security practices. • Optimise data workflows and drive efficiency across large and complex datasets. • Remain hands-on with coding, debugging, and problem-solving when required. Required Skills & Experience • Proven experience delivering Databricks implementations in production. • Strong expertise in Python, SQL, Spark, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP). • Demonstrated experience leading or managing small to mid-sized data engineering teams. • Knowledge of CI/CD, data lakes, data warehouses, and modern data architectures. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance technical detail with delivery deadlines. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
