Role description
Senior Data Engineer | Global Streaming Technology
📍 Osterley, London (2 days onsite) 💰 £500/day Inside IR35 📅 6-month initial contract ⚡ Immediate / ASAP start
I’m currently supporting a major global streaming and media technology organisation on a new Senior Data Engineer contract within their Data Platform function.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the engineering teams behind streaming products used by tens of millions of customers globally.
What they’re looking for:
This is not a role for someone who wants to be a small part of the process. They need a contractor who can hit the ground running, own delivery, communicate clearly, and bring strong real-world experience.
Essential skills:
• Strong SQL
• Proven ETL pipeline experience
• Data warehousing experience
• Dimensional / data modelling
• DBT
• Experience with BigQuery (preferred) or Snowflake
• Exposure to AWS and/or GCP
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
Nice to have:
• Python
• DataOps / CI/CD exposure
• Iceberg / lakehouse knowledge
• AI tooling exposure for automation and engineering productivity
What you’ll be doing:
• Designing and supporting scalable data models and distributed ETL pipelines
• Working with large-scale streaming and platform datasets
• Building and optimising transformations in BigQuery, SQL and DBT
• Collaborating with multiple engineering and business teams
• Improving DataOps and platform best practices
• Supporting the onboarding of new data feeds and ensuring alignment with governance and architecture standards
• Contributing to automation initiatives, including practical use of AI tools within data workflows
This role is highly scenario and delivery focused. In interviews, the team will want to understand:
• What you’ve built over the last 2 years
• What you personally owned
• How you approached ETL, warehousing and modelling challenges
• Your experience with BigQuery (ideal) / Snowflake / DBT
• How you’ve improved engineering practices or automation
Interview process
• Stage 1: 30-minute conversation with the Head of Data and a Senior Data Engineer
• Stage 2: Technical / scenario-based discussion
If you’re a Senior Data Engineer with strong SQL, ETL, data warehousing, modelling and DBT experience, and you’re looking for a contract where you can genuinely make an impact in a high-scale streaming and data platform environment, I’d be keen to speak.
