About the Role:
Starbucks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is crucial for building and supporting mid-layer services that integrate enterprise systems and external partners, focusing heavily on customer data. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Python, PySpark, Databricks, Cloud technologies, Containerization, and Data Streaming, and will thrive in a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Participate actively in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
β’ Own and manage the full application development lifecycle, including production support.
β’ Serve as a technical subject matter expert and mentor within the team.
β’ Collaborate with Architecture, Product, Development, and IT teams to deliver scalable and robust data solutions.
β’ Continuously identify and implement process improvements in new and existing systems.
β’ Design and build scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark on Databricks.
β’ Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data ingestion and transformation.
β’ Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Required Qualifications:
β’ 7+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering roles.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience using Python & PySpark for large-scale data processing.
β’ 4+ years experience with containerization tools: Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or RedHat OpenShift.
β’ 4+ years of experience in test automation.
β’ Strong background in both SQL and NoSQL databases.
β’ Experience with version control systems such as Git.
β’ Proven experience delivering complex enterprise solutions in an Agile environment.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience with Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
β’ Familiarity with Kafka, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch.
β’ Previous experience working with large-scale, customer-focused datasets.
β’ Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
