Role description
Senior Data Engineers – London Market / Specialty Insurance Contract | £600 per day | Outside IR35 | September 2026 – April 2027 We are looking for multiple Senior Data Engineers to join a major data transformation and migration programme within the London Market / specialty insurance sector. There are three positions available across three closely related workstreams: • Delegated Authority Data Migration, Data Quality & Validation • Migration Testing, UAT & Cutover • Portfolio Solutions & Bordereaux Processing The key requirement: Insurance domain experience For these roles, domain knowledge is just as important as technical capability. We are specifically interested in Data Engineers who have worked extensively with London Market / specialty insurance data, ideally with experience across: • Delegated Authority • Bordereaux / BDX • Underwriting data • Policy / contract data • Premium data • Claims data • Broker / facility data • Insurance data migration and reconciliation What you'll be working on: Depending on your experience, you could join one of three workstreams. Data Migration, Quality & Validation Supporting the migration of Delegated Authority data from legacy systems into a new target ecosystem, including source-to-target validation, reconciliation, data-quality controls, defect investigation and migration validation. Migration Testing, UAT & Cutover Supporting production-like migration cycles, UAT, reconciliation, migration dress rehearsals and cutover preparation. You'll interrogate migration outputs, investigate data issues and help prove that migrated data and target environments are production-ready. Portfolio Solutions & Bordereaux Processing Engineering solutions to ingest, transform and standardise complex bordereaux data across multiple brokers, facilities and accounts. This includes reverse-engineering existing transformation logic, building reusable ingestion processes and mapping inconsistent source data into a common structured model. Technical experience We're looking for strong hands-on Data Engineers with experience across areas such as: • Advanced SQL, Python • ETL / ELT • Data migration • Source-to-target validation • Data reconciliation • Data quality frameworks and controls • Structured and semi-structured data • Lake / Lakehouse architectures • Azure / Databricks Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory and automated data-quality/reconciliation frameworks would be particularly useful. Ideal profile You'll be a senior, hands-on Data Engineer who can take ownership of a workstream rather than simply work through development tickets. You'll be comfortable dealing with messy legacy data, complex mappings and multiple stakeholders across business, technology, vendor and consultancy teams. Most importantly, you'll understand insurance data and what that data actually represents. If you have strong London Market / specialty insurance data engineering experience, particularly across Delegated Authority or bordereaux, I'd be very interested in speaking with you. Please apply or get in touch directly to discuss which of the workstreams best matches your background.
