Role Description The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures that support analytics, reporting, and business applications in a remote setting. This contract role involves developing and optimizing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, integrating data from multiple sources, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance. The individual will collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust data models and warehouse structures. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing best practices for data governance, monitoring data workflows, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to architecture decisions for cloud and on-premise data platforms. The Senior Data Engineer will also document solutions, support continuous improvement, and help mentor other team members when needed. Qualifications • Candidates should possess strong skills in Data Engineering and Data Warehousing to design and support scalable, production-grade data ecosystems. • Candidates should possess robust Data Modeling and Extract Transform Load (ETL) skills to build efficient structures and pipelines that enable reliable data movement. • Candidates should possess solid Data Analytics skills to understand downstream reporting and insight needs and optimize data solutions accordingly. • Candidates should have experience with SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (such as Python or Scala). • Candidates should have hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools (such as cloud data warehouses, distributed processing frameworks, and workflow orchestration tools). • Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and experience working in remote, cross-functional teams. • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred. • Experience with data governance, security, and performance optimization practices is beneficial.
