Senior Data Engineer

Senior Snowflake Engineer - Contract Location: Hybrid, London (2 days onsite per week) Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 6 months Inside IR35 - Rate depending on experience We are seeking an experienced Senior Snowflake Engineer to join a banking client. This role will focus on enhancing and migrating risk data platforms to a modern Snowflake and Power BI architecture, supporting business-critical analytics and reporting. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop Snowflake data models and pipelines (ETL/ELT) to support market and risk analytics. • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring accuracy, usability and performance. • Contribute to the migration of legacy SQL Server–based risk systems to Snowflake / Power BI. • Collaborate with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate into scalable data solutions. • Implement dbt for data transformation and modelling. • Use Python for automation, data integration and analysis tasks. • Troubleshoot performance issues and optimise queries, pipelines and reporting layers. Key Requirements • 5 years + Snowflake experience. • Strong SQL and data modelling expertise (star / snowflake schemas). • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and dbt. • Skilled in Power BI (including DAX) and delivering high-quality visualisations. • Hands-on with Python for data processing and automation. • Background in financial services • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
