We are looking for a Splunk expert to join on a short-term contract and help stabilize, optimize, and improve our Splunk environment. This role will focus on search performance, integrations, usability, and data governance practices to ensure Splunk supports security, compliance, and analytics needs effectively.
Hereβs How Youβll Make an Impact on the Team
β’ Improve speed and efficiency of searches across large datasets.
β’ Implement caching, tuning, and best practices to reduce redundant or costly searches.
β’ Enhance workflows so analysts can pivot and re-use results without re-running full searches.
β’ Strengthen reliability of Splunk data pipelines for exports and integrations.
β’ Support real-time or near real-time data flows where feasible.
β’ Improve stability and resiliency of indexing, clustering, and correlation searches.
β’ Review and rationalize knowledge objects (saved searches, lookups, dashboards).
β’ Establish monitoring for field drift or schema changes that impact detections.
β’ Define lightweight governance processes for detection lifecycle management, versioning, and validation.
β’ Support alignment with broader data governance policies, including access controls, retention, and auditability.
β’ Explore and implement notebook-style investigation support for collaboration and reproducibility.
β’ Assist in enabling inline data transformation and ML/AI-driven enhancements where practical.
β’ Provide guidance on best practices for detection-as-code and integration with CI/CD systems.
Hereβs What Youβll Need to Be Successful in This Role
β’ Strong hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise / Enterprise Security administration and development.
β’ Expertise in SPL optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
β’ Experience with data integration and pipeline reliability.
β’ Familiarity with data governance practices as applied to Splunk (knowledge object hygiene, schema evolution, access/retention policies).
β’ Proficiency in Python or scripting for automation and advanced handling.Nice-to-Have
β’ Experience with detection engineering and detection-as-code frameworks.
β’ Background in ML/AI features in Splunk or adjacent tools.
β’ Understanding of compliance frameworks and their implications for Splunk governance.
Pay Range
